Your path out of addiction
An addiction disorder is a complex disorder that can affect anyone at any time. It often develops gradually and is frequently accompanied by severe emotional distress. An addiction disorder can manifest itself in various forms, such as media, sex, love, and gambling addiction, but also in substance-related addictions (drug, alcohol, and medication addiction). The addiction disorder can be physical and/or psychological in nature.
Psychological addiction refers to a strong craving for the potential addictive substance. In the case of physical addiction, on the other hand, the addictive substance must be constantly supplied to the body, otherwise withdrawal symptoms will occur.
The LIMES Schlossklinik Bergisches Land primarily treats the psychological causes of addiction, such as depression, trauma, burnout, and ADHD. Substance-related addictions are only treated as a co-occurring disorder with mental illness. As a prerequisite for admission, substance-related addictions must be treated with withdrawal therapy prior to admission to the LIMES Schlosskliniken.
